THE TOKYO UNIVERSITY STRUGGLE A strong student movement erupted in the late 1960s in Japan, like other places, and the struggle over Yasuda Hall at Tokyo University was a symbol of the movement. In the end the students were overpowered by riot police, but the following year's entrance exam had to be cancelled.
