OZONE LAYER DESTRUCTION The ozone layer, which lies in the Earth's stratosphere, protects living creatures from destructive ultraviolet rays. This layer is destroyed by fluon gas, an essential part of modern culture which is used in detergents that wash electronic components, hairsprays, and refrigerators.
