THE DIRIGIBLE HINDENBURG At present, airships are only used for advertizing. In the 1930s, however, they carried many passengers. The Hindenburg which was built in Nazi Germany, was on its first flight linking that country with the U.S. It exploded just as it arrived in the U.S., however, and this proved an omen of the fate of Nazi Germany.
